C.S. Lewis Academy Prospective Student VISIT program
We are honored that you are looking at C.S. Lewis Academy as a possible school option for your child. We welcome your questions and encourage a visit to our school and classrooms to help you in the decision making process.
It is our desire to acquaint you with the school in such a way that you can make a good decision about whether or not to apply for admission. This includes printed material, a visit to the school and a particular classroom, time to visit with a teacher and the principal.
We can accommodate parent visits during the school day for 30 minute observations. Student visits take place after the school day is over, enabling them to see the room and meet and visit the teacher.
We encourage students entering grades 4-5 to consider visiting a classroom for part of a day. All visits need to be prearranged with the office at least 48 hours prior to any visit.
We encourage students entering grades 6-12 to consider visiting a classroom for part of a day or an entire day. All visits need to be prearranged with the office at least 48 hours prior to any visit. Visiting students will be assigned a CSLA student of the same gender to help them feel comfortable during their visit.
C.S. Lewis Academy Application Procedures
Once the decision has been made to apply to our school, the following process is followed:
Step One: Complete the online application form then submit the application fee, student’s current transcript (grades) and records request form, and give the three recommendation forms to the student’s current principal or school counselor, a teacher and a local (non-family) member of the community. These forms should be mailed directly to the school from the referring person.
Step Two: Once we have received all the completed forms, we will call the parents and student in for an interview with the principal. This interview is not only for us to get to know you better, but for you to ask questions and get to know our school better as well. Students may be asked to take a Wide Range Achievement Test, as well as provide medical and/or psychological history.
Step Three: Upon a principal’s approval to enroll student in our school, financial arrangements need to be completed with the Finance Department and an acceptance packet with informational forms filled out (medical, transportation and contact information) and returned to office.
Students who may have certain learning disabilities or emotional handicaps may best be served in educational settings that have specific training and skills better suited to help them thrive. If C.S. Lewis Academy does not accept a student, the enrollment fee is returned.
In the meantime, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Our summer hours are 8am-2pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays . We would love to share with you the C.S. Lewis Academy difference!
