Our Fine Arts Department is dedicated to enhancing the creative experience of our students and continues to evolve. Over the years we have offered a number of arts programs relative to the interest of our enrolled students. Currently we offer outstanding Choir and Theatre programs. Recently, we have offered middle school band and high school visual arts and are pursuing quality offerings for each in the future.
The arts, including music, are integrated in the everyday life of our Elementary school curriculum.
The C.S. Lewis Academy Middle and High School Choir is offered to students in grades 6-12 regardless of previous choral experience. They meet 3 days a week, and it is a year-long course. This class focuses on vocal technique, music history, and sight reading. Each class starts with a devotional that is music-related (usually the history and story behind the writing of a hymn) and the reading of Scripture then ending that time in prayer. The students are introduced to and perform choral music from a wide variety of genres and time periods.
As we sing, it is our hope that our school constituency and listeners throughout the community will be given an opportunity to feel and hear the love of Christ through our music. “Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day after day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples.” – Psalm 96:1-3
